hey UG
i was thinking of gettin a blackstar ht-5 stack instead of the b-52 at 112, just cos of better reviews and stuff, and for gigs my parents said theyd rent some, so thats covered
id just like to know if a mini full stack, or even a mini halfstack, ht-5 could keep up with a drummer, and be heard over the drums

many thanks

Adding an extra cab will provide a slight increase in volume, but not enough to be that noticable. I'd just get the head and a 2X12 cab if I were you. In the long run, I still think it would be better for you to get the B52.

All that said- Have you played both of them already?

no not yet
so few good amps exist in lebanon, and these amps arent among those
but, im goin to the states in september for a couple of weeks, and my mom said a could spend like 500 on an amp, cant be too big, cos shipping is too expensive (i dont mind payin an extra 50 bux for 20 pounds in my suitcase)
so while im stuck here, im tryin to do as much reseach as i can to get the best amp for me, basically a metal amp that has really good gain and decent cleans

Play both amps and make a decision based on what YOU hear. We can tell you whatever we want, but you shouldn't buy something just because we told you to. Always try before you buy. Who knows???? Maybe you'll like the B52 more.

well yeah, my only problem with the b-52 is that theres some reliability issues, some people say its just a burnt fuse or the like
while others say its somethin more serious. since im pretty new to amps, i wont really know how to fix something serious and amp techs tend to be really expensive here

Bugera fixed their reliability issues, so as long as you buy one new, everything should be fine.

I'm pretty sure Bugera doesn't make the B-52.

But the B-52 had quality issues, but they have since added a fan and it's good now.

The B-52 is being discontinued right now , the Blackstar at max volume is loud for practicing alone but not with drums, some people mic it and use it with a power amp.

For a small price you can try with some other amps like the randall rg50tc, you can hear it pretty well on this video.

you could just Mic the HT-5. that way, you're going to go through the PA, and most likely be louder than the drums.
