Play some frikkin' Zeppelin. There are no excuses for not playing Zeppelin. You cant have a three piece without being able to play "Whole lotta love" or Black Dog. Screw the vocals if you have to. LED ZEPPELIN I TELL YOU.

play what you like.

not what we tell you too.

ask them what they know, and learn it.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Linkin Park and other such bands seem to be popular with young whippersnappers these days. I'm in high school, I should know. But maybe it's just my school.

Back to normality, Leave Out All The Rest, Somewhere I Belong, (Linkin Park) also, you can usually simplify the bass line or even change it so that it suits your abilities better by using the chord changes. I find that it's easier to play something that I write that's at the same 'difficulty' level than what's already been written.

Play some nirvana. The lines on Nevermind in particularly are a great exercise in controlled creativity.

If you want something more fun/difficult to play, try some Cream, they are the original power trio after all.
"I hope I die before I get old"-Words of Pete Townsend, 1945-

"I hope I die before I turn into Pete Townsend"-Words of Kurt Cobain, 1967-1994

Funny old world eh.

"Good" by Better Than Ezra, or "Bound for the Floor" by Local H. Throw some Weezer in there too.

You've Got so Far to Go - The Alkaline Trio
Pretty fun bass line, a little repetative, but still sounds nice.

Weezer-Buddy Holly
Foo Fighters-Everlong
Anything by the Ramones

All tend to be crowd pleasers especially Everlong
