Hi there. Over the years I've aquired a few bits of old kit and I'm trying to learn a bit more about them. This particular piece of kit is a Vox Escort 30 transistor amp. I know that production started in 1975 and continued until somewhere in the eighties, but have found out little else. I bought the amp second hand around 10/11 years ago and have really grown to like it. Some of the pots are getting a bit noisy and I'm not really a big fan of the on-board fuzz unit, preffering warmer overdriven sounds myself, but over-all it's a good sounding little amp. I'd like to know anything at all you can know about these amps or any opinions you have from using one. I'd especially like to see original manufacturer's spec/catalogue, and was wondering if there's any way I could find out it's year of manufacture via the serial number, which is 41516. Anything at all you think might be interesting is appreciated. Thanx

I would try the vox website. Also, try contacting Vox and just ask them about it. I mean, you have the serial number so I assume they could tell you a butt load about it.

Yeah, I've tried the Vox website, there's nothing on there about it apart from a brief mention in the history section (that's how I know they started production in 1975). I've not tried mailing them though, I assumed with them being a big corporate company they wouldn't give a crap about a washed-up muso like me, I'll give it a go though. Still, any further opinions would be great. Ta.

Just an update, I contacted Vox, they could tell me nothing. Now owned by Korg, they have changed hands several times since the escort was built and claim that no information was transferred between owner, though I find it hard to believe.
