I'm thinking of replacing the tuners on my SG, since they arn't all that great. The G string refuses to stay in tune if i do more than a half bend. Any suggestions for nice tuners, i'm open to any style but i prefer Grover-style, would be greatly appreciated.

check wat size the tuners are first... becuz i believe grover, sperzel, Gotoh all those types are all different sizes...like within a 32nd of an inch but get one too big and it wont fit and one too small will never keep your string in tune... but yeah go for the Grover locking tuners.

Would the original locking ones be better or the ones with the thumbscrew lock?

EDIT: My SG came with Grovers since it's an Epi, so I believe they'd fit.

I have locking grovers, and tbh, you'd be better off with normal ones. Now i know why the thumbscrew locking system is so much better than the one on the grovers (because the 'auto-locking' system on the grovers is a bloody hassle and two of mine have partly broken)
