Most of us have seen i, Robot, and seen the autopiloted cars in action. You say or enter your destination and your car takes you there. In order for that autopiloting to happen, we will need very intelligent cars and even more intelligent roads that can route traffic safely. When do you think that autopiloted cars, in conjunction with smart roads, will be implemented?

Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, whether it will be cool or not, or if awesome accidents will bring lulz, etc.

Personally, I dread the day autopiloted cars / smart roads will be in effect.

disadvantages: the smartass road knows when your speeding and sends you a ticket. OR the smartass government makes it impossible to speed.

Chevy and the US, in cooperation with the guys who are behind Segways, are actually teaming up to bring this sort of system to the US, they have made prototypes that get outrageous amounts of MPG, and are 1-2 seaters, and drive by themselves, but the problem is the infrastructure. I hope it works out
