Plus, naturally I scream satanic rituals while unleashing the demon. It's a marvelous resurrection.

Oh ok,well it can be a bit intimidating at first but its very simple

those videos will get you started,if you have a lot of time then be sure to watch them all,
I would recommend you get guitar pro to make midis to be imported into garageband. So to really get a clear idea of what this DAW can do start with exporting a midi from guitar pro:

Also get the boltd add-on instrument packs 1-3:
http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=Boldt+24+Pack+Volume+I&tag=404&searchtype=downloads

Also get some soundfonts, they are much better than the apple assignable instruments: http://www.hammersound.net/

Here's the soundfont tuorial:
http://www.thegaragedoor.com/tutorials/sftutorial.html

Vsts aren't made for mac unless you use a VST2Auadapter so you can download audio units: http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/software.php/id/7030/audio/Virtual-Instruments/plugins/AU/platform/mac/

Even though your running I'life 09 with garageband 5? I think this manual should cover most aspects cause the layout is the same: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/GarageBand_3_getting_Started.pdf

Also a good site for tips and tricks:
http://www.thegaragedoor.com/

Well that should keep you very busy hope that helps
