I want to get a fuzz pedal to add something different to my rig, could you guys recomend me one in the £50 - $80ish range as i know nothing about them.

I play metal but really its going to be used for like odd intros and bits of songs (probably not chords) it can be gritty as hell i dont mind

used is fine and non true bypass is to as im using it in a true bypass loop

cheers

They make a Micro Muff but it's not as good. If you want something nasty and gritty though, go with the Russian Big Muff.

US Big Muff is grittier and noisier than a Russian Big Muff. The US one has a lot of pops and hisses in the signal (think like jack white on icky thump). The Russian is a little creamier (think black keys or smashing pumpkins-ish stuff). Its up to you, if you can try both out.

I was considering the Guyatone TZ-2 for a while and nearly ordered one. Sorta like an old Univox SuperFuzz, which means it's thick and gnarly and has some octave elements in it. runs about $75, doesn't have the "mid scoop" option the Univox had since it's not the exact same circuit, not too much of a risk if you like what you see in the link below.

Get a Devi Ever of some kind for the crazy fuzz. Look into the Soda Meiser, Hyperion, etc...

I would go with a Big Muff style fuzz. Russian Big Muff would be a good choice.

+1

Good choice. I got one brand new off eBizzle for 59.00 free shipping! They sell em for the same on GC.com as well.

You can get the single Devi pedals for less than a hundred bucks at GC.

Yeah, for a "boutique" pedal, Devi is about the least expensive you can get. I should know. I said I was considering the Guyatone, and I WAS, until I saw a Devi Ever Hyperion demo vid.

But the fact is I'm not quite sure what he wants. Something kinda chaotic like the Guyatone or some of the Devi units might be preferable to something more traditional like the Big Muff. Or maybe he wants that smoother sound. I'm not quite sure. Best we can do is provide demo vids and let him see for himself.

For that price range, the only thing you could get is a Muff.

If you're considering a Devi Ever, you might as well save up and get a Fuzz Factory.

His budget is, hm, $80, yeah?

If he wanted to go up to $100, he'd have access to most of the single-switch Devi Ever effects, the Big Muff w/ Tone Bypass & Wicker, and a few others.

None of those are even coming close to the $175 price of the Vexter series Fuzz Factory.

You're in the UK, and want a cool fuzz. MadeByMike is the way to go I would think. He builds them all by hand and you can get one for £60. just google MadeByMike and you'll find his webpage which comes complete with youtube demos.
