I think they were indeed discontinued.

I'd imagine you could still track down one on eBay though.

I would say stick with the firebird, the epi les paul jr was nothing more than a starter guitar, but on the other hand it was quite a good starter guitar.

But id still stick with the firebird unless u can get one for a steal

^ Well the basic Epi Jr was a budget guitar, but the '57 Reissue was quite a lot better. I'd say go for the Jr, but that's just because I have a massive fetish for them.

This is correct. The '57 setneck version was no starter guitar, it's not to be confused with the bolt-neck $99 "Junior" (which notably does not say "Les Paul" on the headstock).

That said, Firebird or Junior just depends on which one that one likes more, they're fairly dissimilar guitars.

Yes it does. Or at least I think it does. I refinished over the headstock of the one I have so I can't check but I'm pretty sure it had 'Les Paul' written in gold font on the headstock face.

it says "Junior" in the les paul font.
