ok so i was looking at the upload playing skills area (havent uploaded any yet)
and i saw some techniques that i had no idea about so if u could kindly explain them to me that would help:

dampening
tremolo picking
slide guitar
lap slide guitar
hybrid picking

1) Never heard of that.
2) Fast alternate picking on a single note or string.

dampening - I believe it is pretty much a type of muting

tremolo picking - fast alt picking, usually reserved for 1 string licks

slide guitar - using a metal or glass tube that goes over finger then using that to fret notes, pretty much sounds like a fretless

lap slide guitar - same as above, but there are usually some pedals involved to bennd the pitch of the strings, really awesome sound too

hybrid picking - combination of picking with pick and fingers at the same time

that would be pedal slide that uses pedals, lap slide is just playing slide on a high-action guitar sitting across your lap (pickups facing the heavens)
