hey guys, i would like to know who is your favorite or who you think is the greatest blues guitarist.
#2
I don't know about being the best, but Jimi Hendrix is definitly my favorite. He did some cool work.

Pointless thread.

It's comparing apples to oranges - too many good players have been missed out. I shall now demonstrate off the top of my head:

Son House
Robert Johnson
Otish Rush
Peter Green
Elmore James
Hubert Sumlin
Gatemouth Brown
Lemon Jefferson
Warren Haynes
Jeff Healy
Robben Ford
Hound dog Taylor
keb Mo
Luther Allison

If you haven't heard of any of them, look them up.

This is a crap thread.
I'm sorry, I understand you're new here, but this really isn't a good way to contribute to discussion here, and I'm pretty sure this kindda thread isn't allowed. It would be much more constructive to introduce yourself in the off topic thread, and contribute to other threads that are around and make more specific threads if you see a need (search first though).

Ok guys, i'm sorry i left some very great players out like tossom said... the problem is that if you make an poll you've only got 10 options maximum. I know it's all just a matter of taste and such and that there is very much discussion possible. I just want to know which ones you like the most. Let's all just stop saying this is a **** post and stuff like that and just answer or leave... What's the use of complaining...
#9
Yeah, this isn't going to go well. "Best" isn't something you can judge or quantify in music, especially when it comes to blues guitarists.

Plus, Peter Green is the right answer and he didn't even make your list

Out of those, I like Johnny Winter the most.

I don't like Albert King enough to like srv that much

I realise you're new, but you've got to learn the rules somehow. So I shall be blunt. This type of thread is a pet hate of all that reside here (prone to 'flaming'), so even though you probably had good intentions...

Oh, yeah, and fuck this thread in its stupid ass.
#15
what criteria are you judging these people on? Wouldn't that usually be the first thing you decide..

also pretty stupid idea, because most people just vote for their favourite, who does not = best. Too hard to judge who's best, and besides, it doesnt matter o_O
#18
I like, and this is not a flame, that if you posted this in the metal section. They'd probably love it and have a nice little "my vote is King omG!".

So it's cool that in the blues part a topic like this is already getting beat down from minute 1..

Makes you a little glader doesn't it?
#19
that we understand that their is no best, just differn't? That altough it's being beat dowm that some people are trying to be suportive and helpful to the doer of wrong deeds? makes me feel warm inside...
#22
i think the point of this thread is to put who is you personal favorite.(which guitarist speaks to you the most?) not who is the the best of the best because there is no real answer.

what criteria are you judging these people on?

That's a good point. Is being a great guitar player about being able to run faster and jump higher? But does that make one great?

Or are the great ones those who innovated music like Muddy and T-Bone who brought the Blues to an entirely new level?

Or are the great ones those that brought the Blues out of the Southside clubs and into the mainstream like BB King and Clapton?

The answer depends on what one considers "great".

No.

Well, technically it could be done, but only in the same way that you could change a cat into a hamburger. It's an unpleasant process, and nobody is happy with the result.

I voted for Clapton, instead of SRV. I hate how SRV will randomly go into these super-fast breaks that ruin the whole feel of the song.
