I posted in the guitar customization thread but nobody really ventures in there. After growing tired of my $20 investment collecting dust I decided today I would make it more enjoyable. Laugh if you want, but I was drawn to this guitar for it's particularly comfortable, thin finished neck. The stock pup was junk and it just seemed kind of ugly.

Today (after some elbow grease, vintage SG knobs, and a Jackson 'pup I had laying around):

Probably won't be to everyone's taste but I really like it. Finally feels like part of my guitar family

Thanks for the kudos, everyone! Appreciate it. Yeah, I need to buy some strings and re-set it up. Just didn't have any around the house.

That actually really looks great. The stock guitar looked cheap as hell but you made it look classy and unique with the natural finish + sideburns.

+1, I'm especially digging the understated flame on the back of that neck.

Good work, man.

I've already said this, but it looks amazing. The grain on it is sweet and the matching natural headstock looks great. If I was you, I would upgrade the rest of the hardware and use it because it looks beautiful. Cheers.

Not sure what model but its a First Act. It can be had for $100 new at Wal-Mart.

TS: You sure have improved the cosmetics of the guitar. You may wish to replace the bridge as well - I'm sure its not top-of-the-line.

Not bad. Though where are the rest of the strings? lol

Thanks and hopefully I 'll get around to chucking some strings on today.

The hardware on it is adequate but nothing to write home about. Definitely wanna replace the tuners with some green key Gibson style ones eventually.

Thanks! And it's something I do as a hobby, occasionally doing band promos and such. Just another expensive hobby for my wife to hate, lol.

That thing looks slick. The wood looks great, and has a fantastic grain, also +1 on the flame on the back of that neck. Id tung-oil it now, but that's just me.
