Earlier today I was forced to revisit painful childhood memories in the form of a youtube video. You can compare my viewing of it to the scene in ghostbusters where the ghostbusters team are in a tunnel and all of a sudden a ghosttrain hits them at full speed leaving everyone gooey and emotinally scarred for life. It's like that, only without the goo. Ok, some goo.

That got me thinking. When I grew up there didn't seem to be a shortage of ****ing scary cartoons for kids so I wonder, did sweden just have a great concentration of these cartoons or are they also common abroad? Maybe you guys abroad have a guy that watches cartoons and say stuff like "ok, this is suitable for children", "this is not", "haha, this one has puppies in it" or "airing this will undeniably leave an entire nation of children wetting their beds until after puberty". Apparently we didn't have this guy.

So, please, if possible, link to scary children's cartoons from your country and let's see if they're scary or not. I can put them in the first post here if you give me the name, country and link.

Oh and please, older shows and cartoons are the scariest.

No Maggot, the teletubies are frightening but due to the fact that they are not a cartoon, you have been disqualified. I'm so sorry.

I freaked out when they shot Brad Pitt in Burn after reading.

That's probably the only thing that I've seen on T.V that ever scarred me.
No means maybe

As much as I love Anime and Japan, this is the truth.

Show an 8 year old the final episode of school days and he WILL wet himself and cry.

For America, we had Courage the Cowardly Dog which only had a couple scary ones and Aaagh! Scary Monsters which I recall being not too scary.

We're pussies.

Like my newly updated OP says, please try to find older cartoons/shows. They're usually the most scary (unintentionally scary).

Getting stoned and watching Swedish children's shows sounds like a good idea.

Poland used to have some awesome cartoons. Nowadays all that's aired is dubbed foreign ones, as every Polish cartoon maker, given the chance, will make the story's main hero a priest.

Well, this is actually really popular now.

Yo Gabba Gabba is so awesome.

And sometimes Courage could be creepy, but it wasn't really downright scary, even to little kids.

My favorite show alongside spongebob.

I hated it when they used the voices of children resopnding to their repeated "Booooo-baaaaaah" with giggles and laughter.

No, just the whole thing. It's just ridiculously creepy for children.

Yeah courage the cowardly dog is pretty creepy and the misadventures of flap jack are strange too. Russian cartoons have some things that would disturb children (progaganda, themes and such....)

I completely forgot about the Boobahs...only ever saw adverts for them, but that was still too much.

My contribution is the pink elephant scene from Dumbo. That was always good at freaking me out.
