Hello,

For recording guitar which would be better:

A guitar cable with minijacks on each end connecting the recording out from my Peavey Vypyr 30 to the Line In on my computer

or

A $40 microphone in front of my amp into the Line In on my computer?

Are either of them a step up from using a Guitar Hero WT microphone and if so can you rate each one on a scale of 0-10 on how much of an improvement you feel it is?

Thanks

One the one hand
to microfon you amp is very difficult.
The position of the mic is very important for example.
on the other hand the sound direct from your amp will not be very good.
you need a cabinet simulator...

recording guitars isnt very easy

Cab sims are 100% free. They read IR's.

www.recabi.net sell IR's, but they have a free demo of 2 cabs and there are links to programs that reads IR's there, keFIR is a recomendation from me.

Cathasis IRs are good too and they are free.
