Good day UG'ers

Having recently discovered open C tuning (CGCGCE) on my acoustic, i've been constantly switching between it and standard tuning for the last week and a half.

I'm wondering if this a good idea? I figure the constantly changing tension would affect the guitar in some way, as well as the lifespan of the strings.

If this is strongly advised against, I would also like to know which guage of strings is best for open C, I'm currently using 12-54's.

Thanks

iirc, constantly changing tunings will put a lot of wear on your tuner peg and the nut.

The same applies to the neck. But it will take a long time before you will actually notice the difference. Just get it professionally serviced once a year and it should be fine.
