I play alternative, hard rock, and blues.
Im the only guitarist in a band and Im also the singer( we are a three piece)
so I guess need versatility.
We play alot of nirvana and stuff like that but also when im by myself i like to play alot of singer/songwriter type stuff.
I have 500 US dollars.
Which would be best
-MIM Strat
-MIM Tele
-Schecter PT standard
does anyone have any suggestions on other guitars?
I am more than willing to buy used.
and i use a peavey classic 30.

Excellent, you already have a good amp..I have one too and love it to death...

I would go for the MIM Strat. Very good for the music style you describe.

2001 MIM Standard Strat

look towards the schecters, stay away from squiers. id suggest looking for brands like ibanez, jackson, and esp/ltd as well, and look used too of course. but unless its a cheap fender, stay away from squier.
My Gear:
Gibson Faded Flying V
"Dante's Inferno" Iceman
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 112
etc.

I can't imagine anything worse than shagging to Mark Knopfler.

Maybe shagging Mark Knopfler, but that's about it.

ya my peavey is my girlfriend...not kidding ha

i was kinda leaning toward the strat
does the maple have any major differences than the rosewood fretboard?
like, other than looks?

and meh...i have an ibanez and i hate it.
im not really a fan of superstrats
i tend to like classic shapes.

Not really. Some say the Rosewood will sound Warmer than Maple. But I honestly can't tell a difference.

The rosewood will require more care, because it is UNfinished (no laquer or anything). You have to put some lemon oil on it every 6 months or so.

On the other hand, the Maple is susceptable to tarnishing. Not sure if that's the right term....It starts to turn green in spots. That is happening on my strat. No biggy, just looks. that's the only regret I have on my strat is I wish I had gotten rosewood. But I didn't know any better when I bought it. It was my first.

Other than that, yeah just looks.

Imagine the part of the ballsack where occasionally old poo sticks to the pubes and hardens, and you then have to pull out, but as an amp. That's an MG.

Greatest quote of all time?

I think so...

^ Like jonmo said, it's unfinished so you will have to put lemon oil on it.

And really, I don't think rosewood sounds any different than maple. They just feel different.

Personally I like rosewood more.

I thought I read amp for some reason...and was gonna suggest a Classic 30 hahah, but yeah, Strats seem to be the standard choice, Teles are great as well. Give them all a shot but I would probably say Strat as well.
