I'm looking for a metal rig (guitar+amp) that is under $2000.

Amp: Tube
Band I like: Megadeth, Arsis, Gorguts, and Behemoth
Main style : Progessive Death metal

Schecter C-1 Hellraiser or LTD EC1000 with Peavey 6505+, or even look at Bugera heads which are pretty cheap (some people say theyre unreliable) but if im not mistaken then they come with a full warranty

B52 AT 112. Leaves approx. $1640 for a guitar... I recommend a used Jackson Soloist or an ESP Horizon. You could also get a hell of an RG for that price
My name is Collin, please feel free to use it

If i'm correct the 6262 is a 5150/6505 copy which he can get the original used for the same price. Plus, the bugera is alot differnt from a xxx and by ni means "better" it's all opinion.

Yeah, but the triple xxx is a bright amp, and death metal is usually a darker tone, right?

I don't think brightness has anything to do with an amp.

Get a good Vox tube or tube simulator, or maybe Bogner?

as for guitar, an ESP or Schecter seems to be your best bet. Either way, Seymour Duncan blackout active pups would go nicely.

What do you mean? The triple xxx is a bright amp and the 5150 is a darker amp. I'm talking about how they're voiced.

Oh. you should have used the word voicing. I dont think that it's a bright amp. And even if it is, you can EQ it to remove some of the brightness.

I've seen XXX's used for metal and all of its uselessly named subgenres dozens of times

I just thought that for death metal that the tone would have to be pretty dark. If it were black metal or another genre it would do fine, I just don't know how it would be for death metal, but I haven't used it so your opinion is more valid. You're right I should've said voicing to avoid confusion.

They are ok amps, but the TS has $2000, so he probably isnt looking for a practice amp.

See if you can find a Peavey Ultra Plus, I've seen one A/B'd with a Mesa Mark III and the Ultra Plus could get some pretty good tones, similar to the Mark.
#33
guitars: jackson, bc rich (hes got 2000 so it would be super high quality), ESP.
im not sure what your guitar preferences are, i know u want to play death metal but i dont know what pups u like or what kind of neck your looking for so i just named guitar companies to look into.

amps: one of the peavys that they keep mentioning or possibly a used mesa boogie, ooh or maybe a spider 3. but seriously line 6/bogner valve amps sound really good, i was honestly suprised
#34
Peavey 6505 And guitar of your choice.

6506, srsly. If you can find an Engl + Cab for cheap, do it.
Schecter Hellraiser C-1 is great for death. Look used if you want an engl.
Gear :

Ibanez RG2570 (has yet to post pics)
Crap Wal-Mart guitar that came in a 70 buck starters pack.
Marshall MG15, I know

Thanks for the pointless post. I got the money from something called a job.

A ... job? o_o

But i was hinting to buy the dual rectifier actually. It might be too much of a prize, since you want to get a guitar too.

I'd recommend the 6505.

As for guitars, take a look at the ESP/LTD EC 1000 series or even the Eclipse models. Some more which might catch your interest would be the Jackson Kellys, or even the Soloist and Dinky models. I'd recommend the Eclipse in Vintage Black.
