I have a cheap bass (Vantage 225B-1) with p style pickups. The pickups are pretty much dead now though and need to be replaced.

What kind of pickups do you all suggest I get to replace them? Also do I need to measure the pickup slots to see if new ones will fit?

Thanks

I guess kind of like a newer rock sound and punchy, can't think of any bassist off the top of my head to compare too.

Bright and punchy? Go for Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders.

I will second this.

Alright, thanks. Just curious but how hard will it be to install these on my own?

Not hard at all Seymour Duncan always have great wiring diagrams to follow. If you know how to solder its as simple as taking the old ones out and putting the new ones in the same spot. If you don't know how to solder and don't have a soldering gun, they are like $10 and it's easy to learn.

No matter what sound you were going for, everyone was going to say quarter pounders... mess with the amp more instead of dropping cash on pickups.

I like how your username is Jazzbasskid, yet your asking about P pick ups.

what if the man just likes jamming to jazz with a P-bass?

Just out of curiosity, how are your pickups dead? Magnets don't lose their magnetism very quickly...
Nope, no sig here.
