I've had this conversation with different friends and it's sparked some intriguing thoughts... So Pit, I pose you the question: Do you think in words, images, spatially, or some in other form?

For instance, if you are hungry, do you think 'Man I am hungry', do you imagine a picture of food, is it an unspoken understanding of hunger, or something else?

Words usually. I have this habit of thinking about everything I do and narrate it like Holden Caulfield in the Catcher in the Rye.
#11
Words, I find it really hard to see images in my head, I pretty much only see them when i'm sleeping, and then when I try and picture something I saw in my sleep while i'm awake I can't do it properly. I'll remember every word of my dream, but barely any images. Works the same with remembering things that actually happened aswell. I always found it kind of odd, but i'm probably not alone in this.

I narrate my life in the third person, past tense. It's a bit odd.

Images, other senses , and spatially... but probably not so much on the words... I'm a pretty good writer, but it takes me forever to think my words through and I have a hard time writing down exactly what I want to say.

Words. I wonder if this has anything to do with people being more visual learners or not. it would be a very interesting study imo. nice thread TS

see for me its like an unspoken understanding that i put to words to make clear to myself.

like if im hungry ill know im hungry and then ill put it to words and think to myself, "i am hungry." i guess i do it without realizing it because its not like i need to put it to words

Usually my mind is going a thousand miles in hour and thinking of a thousand thoughts at one time. If I were to manifest them physically, I think people might find me distrubed and insane.
#23
I think in conversations... I know that sounds weird, but I think about myself, the one on the outside who does the talking, the moving, all of the normal functions of the day, talking to the one on the inside, the conscience, the inner monologue, the one who tries to give the orders and usually doesn't get what he wants.

Obviously there's a lot of tension any time they start talking to each other... Which is about 95% of my day.

That's in "The Sims", dear

I rarely think in visual terms. I don't really know how either. Sometimes I think in a logical pattern other times it just pops up. Inconsistencies and some solutions for example I can notice and see instantly without thinking about it, but other things I have to follow a mental pattern for.

Intersting thread btw, I was thinking of doing something like this with some sort of poll.

See, the 'words' idea is very odd to me as think very spatially or with images. I don't think in words unless I am specifically thinking about words, like a poem or something. Otherwise it's just an understood thought, or some kind of visualization or sensory image.

+1.
It means I constantly have a backlog of narrative though, seeing as it takes about ten times as long to describe something as to actually do it.

I vary my thought. Sometimes I think in words, but I try to not limit myself to them. Sometimes one thinks a thought too complex to express in such a manner, and it would be a shame to miss such a thought.

I do quite often narrate my life, usually, as aaciseric does; third person, past tense.

I find it hard to think in vivid images, but I can visualise complex shapes and designs (both 2D and 3D) quite well. I don't have a 'photographic' mind, I can't visualise an image of that sort, but a more abstract shape I can do.

tl;dr I dunno lol.
You're using UG classic, congratulations.

What about logic? I think in words and logic/logic patterns. I struggle to picture visually, I've never been good at anything visual.

I actually got my IQ graphed out my a psychologist once actually, my percentile for visual memory was less than 1%, and was nearly on par with the legally retarded
EDIT:

Oh nooo

I left out logic because I wasn't sure if it was relateable/explainable to those who do not think that way. Glad you brought it up though; there's such a huge contrast between those who think logically and those who rely on more of an emotional understanding

I think as little as possible.
I've certainly never thought of this, but I mostly think in boobies.
For example, something of which I approve would be a nice perky pair. Something of which I do not approve ould be a pair like a Spaniel's ears. And something obviously overdone would be Jordan.
