posted in bass an got no help hopefully you guys will
well i have a project iv been working on for a while and i need some ideas
i just bought a telecaster bass body and an original 70s fender humbucking pickup
it has a hole allready cut in it for a jazz pick up
heres what im thinking (and correct me if its not a good idea)
i get an extra hole cut right above the jazz hole so i can have both jazz pick ups on it and get sone split coil holes cut in it so i can have some pbass pickups in it
my question in that though is how many knobs would i need on it and for what would they be for
next problem is color
i have both a black an white telecaster bass pick guard the kind that goes all the way around to the knobs
what colors would be good for the pick guard i dont know which would go good with what color or anything
any idea is help
even if its "wine red w/ black pick guard"

heres a picture of the bodyr

\

i also found a picture of how i kind of want the pick up setup to be

the number of knobs depends on what kind of controls you want. If you want master controls vs. controls for each p/up etc.

do you feel that you need control of volume and tone over each pickup?

in a sense yes
i own a pbass special and i dont get the control i want from it
i want good control but not a **** load of knobs

well, then the alternatively is concentric pots, you can control two things at a time, if you wanted say, one knob per pickup, you could have both tone and volume controlled on one concentric pot

how many pickups exactly do you want, and are you okay with using a switch for where you want coil splitting?

well now that you brought up those 2x knobs
would it be possable for say get 3 of those and have one wired to each set of pick up and have one part do pup volume and the other half do the tone, and still have a master vol knob

and i want the pick ups to be like the black tele in the picture
