Ok so i got this strat knockoff (J.Reynolds) really cheap, $20 iirc, and it won't stay in tune for longer than a minute of playing. I've already put in a left handed nut, new tuners, and blocked the trem. Any other suggestions? I don't really want to just let it sit, and i also don't want to have to tune it every minute while i'm playing. Thanks in advance

Hmm.
What tuners did you put in it?
You may have to switch the bridge.

No I'm not Jesus. I would aspire to be though. I think under circumstances he would let you pay less if you needed to.

Take pictures of everything except the headstock and sell it on eBay as an American Strat. Then buy an American Strat.

Well, I don't intend to sound condescending when I say this but are you stringing correctly? A decent stringing technique removes a vast majority of tuning issues.

Also, make sure you stretch teh strings properly and perhaps even add a little graphite from an art pencil or something into the nut. Helps a lot.

If all of this fails, it's probably down to a POS bridge.

Well, i put graphite lubricant in the nut and saddles already, and i have no other issues with my other guitars so i doubt it's the restringing, and i put some leftover fender strat tuners in it so again i doubt those are an issue. I guess it comes down to the bridge, and i'm kinda strapped for cash so i probably won't be getting a new one for a bit

Just accept that you wasted some money possibly and save up for something else, smash it off stuff in a rock and roll style.

Hmmm as tempting as that sounds I think i'll just either buy a new bridge from allparts or guitarfetish or just deal with it. Even thought some wear is in its future. Oh and on a side note (instead of making a whole new thread) I'm wiring a guitar, and the pots each have 3 tabs and the switch has 2 on one end and 3 on the other. The guy at the music store said i had to bend a tab down on each pot and bend the 2 end tabs together on the switch. Does it matter which tab on the pots, and on the switch is each end for a pickup and the extra tab the ground?

Yes. It absolutely matters which tabs. Wiring is not some magical voodoo, it is cause-and-effect. To get the result you want you have to go through the right process. Post your guitar wiring questions in the ultimate wiring thread, it is linked in my sig. When you post there, tell us what pickups you have, what kind of switch, how many pots and what you want them to control, etc. The better your initial question is, the better (and quicker) responses you will get. Also clear photos or diagrams can help us help you.
