SO my halfstack is just too much for what i use it for.

I am most likely going to sell it, but i would like to pick up a nice combo amp to replace it.

I would also like to stay as cheap as possible while still getting a quality product.

I play most everything, mostly metal though.

Any suggestions?

What bands do you like to play? Genres? Budget? Cheap to me may be expensive to you. What is your idea of metal. To me metal is Judas Priest, The Scorpions, Iron Maiden.

Well...do you think its realistic to get 900-1000 USD out of my halfstack?

I was hoping something great for under 500? :3

And for metal, i play stuff as you mentioned, but also alot of Melo-Death, and death metal.

The classic 30 is great for rock, blues, country, and can get metal with pedals. Just don't expect to get there with the amp distortion.

You'd get probably more like $500-600, I'm thinking...

I have a couple of pedals for distortion.

Just because it's a cab and head doesn't mean it's high quality and worth alot of money.
Just because the classic 30 is 30 watts doesn't mean it should be cheap, go look at the price of one of those 18 watt Dr Z's and then justify your logic.

The V50 would be a (sound quality wise) downgrade from your Blue Voodoo, I think. Furthermore, they're not ideal for metal, unless it's metal of a stoner or doom variety (think Sleep, Black Sabbath, Bongzilla)

A combo won't be much quieter than your head (for metal, I mean) you'd be better off just getting a load box and power amp setup...

Or you could just do what I do and run an EQ in the effects loop with the volume set to -12 dB. Quiets my amp down a bunch.

Look into a used Peavey XXX 112 60 watt combo if you can find one. Otherwise, I doubt many people are in the market for a tube amp that never quite caught the hearts of guitarists, and a cab that is of no desire.

^ Or a XXX super 40 112 combo only 40 watts, but not much difference in volume still f*cking loud.

After some thought...I think im just gonna keep it, ill just buy some pedals and add ons to make it more user friendly.

I mean, my blue voodoo sounds amazing, but it was a bit overkill...got it real cheap so it was a binge buy lol.

Thanks for all the help guys.
