Hey, I'm looking for particular types of songs... and I wanna see how good you are at connecting the dots, so I wont tell you the type of song, but I'll give you examples!

Wish you were here (Pink F)
No woman, Nuh Cry (Fugees)
Andy Warhol (Dave Bowie)
Song to play when I'm lonely (John Frusc)
Smells like teen spirit (Nirvana)
Come Together (Beatles)
Stairway to Heaven
Time Tonight (John Frusc)
New Dawn Fades (Joy Division)

Get it yet? What do they have in common?
Really catchy opening 'riffs'!

Normally I stick to fingerstyle, chords, fingerpicking... but every once and a while I go through this phase! I love the type of song... where you can be ANYWHERE, and start playing the beginning... and people instantly recognize it, and join in!

So, any cool suggestions? I can already play the ones I listed... but I'm looking for some new onces!

-Cool opening 'riff' or sequence
-Well known (preferably)
-Acoustic (preferably)

I'm sure u can recognize those by even just looking at the tabs.

Just about anything from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. Also the entire folk movement from the 1960s.

Rats, I thought someone would sig it and make me famous...

it was going to be my big break

How about The Beatles - Day Tripper, Tenacious D - Tribute, Black Sabbath - Paranoid or 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite?

If you're just after recognizable riffs that you can rip out at any time and have people know, try looking through the Guitar Hero discography. It sounds lame, but quite a few "classic" or well-known songs are contained in there. It might give you a few ideas or even some inspiration.
