Just wondering what type of guitar you guys started out with?

I started with an acoustic because my dad didn't want to deal with the noise of an electric.

An acoustic is just as worse. My parents hate it when I play at night

Yeah, acoustic is worse. At least you can plug some headphones into your amp.

I bought an electric first but was lazy and never played it. Then I bought an acoustic and learned for real.

Electric. Mainly because my acoustic is a piece of **** (read: Esteban).

Acoustic. It'd be stupid wasting money on both an electric guitar and amp just to realize that you don't like guitar.

A cheapo little classical acoustic guitar. When I got it, the first thing I did was play Iron Man over and over

+1. And how many people can possibly have the same avatar?

As for me, I guess you could say electric. The first song I learned was on electric. Before I owned my own electric, though, I learned most of what I knew on my mom's acoustic.

Acoustic. However, it can be worse when it comes to noise. Most of the time I practice unplugged with my electric.

thankfully I've never played that...yet I know what it is

Acoustic for me, because, I can't afford to buy an electric. But if I had the money, I'd just buy another acoustic really.
The content of this signature is pretty much irrelevant

Started with a very old broken hollow body guitar, but played it just 2 or 3 times then bought a cheap electric.
#37
i started with a really old classical guitar i found on the basement of my house, the neck was broken and it only had 3 strings i had to send it for repairs and started playing it.... i was the first person to use that guitar in over 10 years..... i think she loves me because of that =P

Bull. This is some wisdom that gets constantly passed down. Sure, if you played an electric for a week, and then tried an acoustic, it would seem weird.

But I spent two years playing on an electric, sometimes with dodgy action, and recently, with 10s, and I bought a steel-string acoustic, and it's fine.

You build up finger strength by playing guitar. Maybe if you don't play the right things, you don't develop it. But you will.

Don't decide to start on a guitar based on this. Do it based on what you want to play. Want to play Guns N' Roses and Jimi Hendrix? Don't start on an acoustic.
