So right, I read the FAQ's, but I'm still not getting it.
What is a cheap way to record some guitar onto a PC? I have Audacity. I would like to avoid microphoning it, and I want some decent sound quality.
ALso, you can recommend me some cheap recorders, even if its a four-track tape recorder.

get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to plug your guitar into a line in port on your computer... its like a headphone jack end with a place to put your guitar cable

Remember, with 1/4 to 1/8s you rely on you PCs onboard soundcard. If you got a good one, you'll get good quality or if you get a bad one you'll ...

For software ill recommend AcmeBarGig's free software, but also Nick Crow and RolandPassion.

AUDACITY is just plain **** for this, since it doesnt support VSTs. I will recommend Reaper, because it's cheap and great. with a free trial
