Pretty simple.

Post your sporting hero, and why, i know we have many fans of different sport's on UG, so yeah.

Zinedine Zidane

IMO just the best footballer, awesome dribler, awesome freekick take, and his touch was sublime. He made it all look easy.

If you have any intrest in football or sport at all, or just a damn good film with a score by Mogwai, i suggest you check out "Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait"

Wacky Wendel Clark aka Captain Crunch

The man was the quintessential Maple Leaf, the last player we drafted first overall Clark was a heart and soul player who was able to score with a shot that could knock the masks off of goalies (ask Curtis Joseph) and was also one of the toughest mofos to ever step on the ice the guy guy would drop the mitts to stick up for his teammates to spark his team or to send a message to the other team. The guy probably would have had a longer and more fruitful had he not had to take time off for a broken back 2 years into his career. The guy was a vocal leader and led by example on the ice, they don't make players like Wendel these days

Rory Delap. Double Leg break in his first season at Stoke. Last season the most talked about player in world football. (raises money for local childrens' cancer hospice)

Liam Lawrence. Possibly the best proffessional footballer to star in a gangbang porno? (ya srsly)

Denis Smith. THE man. Both legs broken (twice) fractured ankle, broken toes, broken collar bone, fractured fingers, broken bones in hand, nose broken (twice) in his 407 matches between 1966 and 1982 for Stoke City. Generally regarded as the hardest (that means toughest, you non brits ) person ever to play football. The kind of person who would tell your vinnie joneses (who??) and Roy Keanes (arse) that they wouldn't be going home in an ambulance, they'd be going home in a fucking bodybag. Made in Stoke-on-Trent

The best moment for me as a sports fan:

Carlos Arroyo scored 24 points in Puerto Rico's 92-73 victory over USA in men's basketball at the 2004 olympics. Their first ever defeat in the olympics since they started using NBA players. I have a poster of that picture in my wall, and still have the newspaper article. "We are a small island, but we have a big heart."
