Hey UG,

I have this question that's been stuck in the back of my head for the last few days, why is it that on The Clash's debut album cover you only see 3 guys when there's 4 of them in the band ?

The drummer had left the band...

So they didn't put him in the photo.

Mystery solved.

If its the bassist missing, its because nobody cares about him anyway.

If its the drummer, he probably forgot to go to the photo shoot because he's so dumb.

If its the singer, he was probably getting laid.

If its the guitarist, he probably thought he was too important to be on the cover with the rest of the guys.

that was pretty good, but Id switch the guitar and singer, more singers are douches than guitarists

the fact that this comes from a guitarist with a terrible singing voice should mean nothing
Bands I must see in concert
Silvertide
The Black Crowes
Jackyl
Black Stone Cherry
AC/DC
StoneRider
Freedomhawk
The Darkness and/or the sideprojects of the band members
Buckcherry
The Answer

Theres more. But those are the main ones

You can't do that on every thread.

That just seems like a challenge.

This.
The original drummer (Terry Chimes) either quit or was kicked out, and Topper Headon hadn't joined yet, so it's just Strummer, Jones, and Simonon in the pic.

If you have the US version, you'll notice that Topper Headon is noted as playing on some tracks, which were post-album singles that were thrown on when the US album was released two years later.

EDIT:
Left to Right, it's Paul Simonon (bass), Joe Strummer (guitar, vocals), Mick Jones (guitar, vocals).

And Terry Chimes is credited under another name I believe, can't think what it is (can't be bothered to go upstairs and look, either)

Torry Chimes
Pretty sure it's Terry.

He was credited as Tory Chimes on the album, but his name is Terry.

I love your persistent endorsement of Johnny Foreigner.

I had never noticed this actually, despite owning the album...
Yes, I use a Squier bass.
