The volume pot on my Telecaster is very noisy when I turn it, and I'm pretty sure its because the pot itself needs cleaned, so -

A. What can I use to clean it with?

B. Is it as simple as just taking the knob itself off and spraying the knob post, as it were, or would I have to take the panel that holds the pots in place out and clean under there?

Cheers in advance.

Deoxit is for cleaning it

you have to pull off the panel, then pull the cover off the pot

not necessarily, if you get some contact cleaner there's usually a small hole in the cover you can spray it in,
