What are your thoughts on bisexuals? I know some people think it's just a phase, a way to eventually grow to being completely gay, and there are some who believe bisexuals don't exist. I'm bi, and I truly like both boys and girls (I usually like girls more) and just wondering: what do you think?

my mate said he was bi and he's got a girlfriend now (a few months after saying that) so I don't believe it's a progression into being gay, but I agree with Deliriumbassist

this is copied and pasted from what I said last time bisexuality came up in the Lets Talk About GAYS thread:

Quote by me ranting about people ripping on bis
I've noticed this quite a lot, and this is what I've observed. It's probably going to end up being quite long, and probably too grammatically correct for a forum post but it is a subject that interests me greatly.

Because of the abuse we homosexuals have been dealt by mainstream, straight society over the course of history, we have, in a way, seperated ourselves from normal society. We often socialise seperately and seek out other homosexuals, be it for the purposes of a relationship, or, like in the case of this thread, purely for some similar company. This, of course is purely natural; as human beings, we tend to seek out kindred spirits, and latch onto people we deem 'similar' to us - be it ethnic origin, religion, sexuality or even simply interest in a particular pastime or activite, for example, playing guitar.

We have come to accept, and even like our 'seperate' status as homosexuals. It defines many of us, and although we wouldn't often admit it, has shaped a large number of us as people, some positively, and others less so. I for one think my homosexuality, or rather the abuse I have been given for it, has made me a more sympathetic and accepting person, but I digress.

Bisexuals are neither gay, and nor are they straight, so they do not fit easily into the two groups we have created, and are seen by both as 'outsiders' because they blur the clear definition of 'gay' and 'straight' as two individual subsets of human behaviour and society.

It also represents in many of us the small (and often repressed) sexual attraction we have to either the same sex (in heterosexuals) or the opposite (in homosexuals), which is something many people fear, and so express the fear in the form of hatred (the most common manner in which fear is expressed, in my observation) towards the people who freely express sexual attraction to both sexes - that is to say, bisexuals.

I believe this small heterosexual attraction commonly displayed by homosexual people to be the reason (or a reason) why many people (myself included) chose to 'come out' as bisexual, and later 'change' to homosexual, which leads to the opinion that one is 'gay, straight or lying', which is very harmful towards the publc view on bisexuality, and, of course, untrue. Sadly, a great number of people, both gay and straight believe this, or say they do. There is a great deal of evidence and several studies have been performed (most notably those of Alfred Kinsey) that suggest that all or most people are, to a certain degree, bisexual - that they experience sexual attraction towards both sexes, the difference between people who identify as 'straight' and those who identify as 'gay' is the degree to which they are attracted to which gender.

Another reason why many people, both gay and straight, appear to 'hate' bisexuals is HIV/AIDS. In times past, acquired immuno-deficiency syndrome (AIDS) was seen as 'the gay disease' and it was common public thought that the bisexuals 'brought' the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to the straight population by having intercourse with both the 'infected' homosexuals, and then 'passing it on' to heterosexuals.

Of course, everything I have said relating to bisexuals, is applicable also to pansexuals.

People seem to stereotype themselves when they become bisexual, or at least the people I've known become bi have. Almost like they're just gay but won't admit it so every so often mention a woman or something. It'd be nice to meet someone who could be attracted to either sex and not be "Omg i'm bi olololo" about it.

I'm not saying that all bisexuals are like that before someone takes it the wrong way, just most of the bisexuals I know seem to do it to make themselves seem unique, ironically.

I don't see how it's any of anybody's god damn business.

Sexuality =/= identity.

I couldn't care less whether you eat eggs for breakfast. I couldn't care less who you're attracted to.

PS: I am attracted to both genders, FYI.

Girls like dick, and girls like guys, and guys like pussy, and guys like girls so why can't guys like a bit of dick or girls like a bit of pussy?

I don't really care to be honest. Whatever makes people happy, it's not my place to have any problem with people's personal choices, I think personal freedom is incredibly important, so wouldn't unneccessarily infringe on other peoples. Personally i'm attracted to women, but I don't find men having sex weird, but I know I could never be in love with a man, so I call myself straight.

My friend got into an argument with me over this once. She said that you're either gay, or you're not. If you like both guy and girls, I don't think you could be one or the other.

My friend is bisexual, and when I found out I really didn't care. I don't know why people go around announcing these kinds of things because it didn't make me have a different opinion of her.

I don't think this could be said for all bisexuals or homosexuals. Or heterosexuals.

Not every single person is super-happy

I say, who cares what Gender you are, its who you fall in love with.
this, THIS is why its more about personality than anything.
I'm bi, and i'm not more attracted to either, I can find physical qualities I like in either, and i'd feel perfectly comfortable dating either sex, because I really like them, regardless of whats in their pants.
With both guys and girls, physical beauty is just a plus, its about liking the actual person beneath it.

I do actually think im bi...but the thing is its not equal!!! in my future i see marrying a guy and the whole "perfect life" thing....yet im still really attracted to some girls and to be honest if they came onto me i dont think i would complain at all..

However i dont see me in a relationship with a girl (which i guess you would have to if you were bi) so its more of a sexual thing BUT ive never had sex or been passed kiss with a girl so im thinking phase more than anything..(yet im 18 :S)

but i havnt told any real people (not on the interwebzz) about it because i hate the whole Bi label with girls today... Its like its cool!!!(and since i dont know myself ) My best friend has just came out as bi but i dont think she is which is annoying...Anyways yeah im really confused about the whole thing but thanks for reading!!! my life is so bad...lmao
