A Blackstar HT-Dist through my Blackstar HT-5....would it be any different to my amp channel distortion?

ye, it will definitely have impact on your sound. i guess it will be fatter and drive tubes harder

but in case of blackstar i'd invest into better speaker rather than fatter tone. i've hear numerous times it does wonders with clearer speaker

Even if it was the exact same circuit as the preamp in the HT-5, running two of them together would sound different than just one. So it is definitely going to make a difference.
