What's a better pickup more like an american strat?
(for single coil neck and middle)

Better humbucker for bridge? maybe Seymour Duncan SH-5.

What pickups are in highway one or american?

Just looking for quality upgrade but still sounding like a strat.

I am good with electronics and it seems like an easy install.

Thanks.

I don't need it to blow away my american strat.

1. Blues/ Classic Rock/ Hard Rock
2. Any tube amp I like.

Thanks.

Okay then, there's a gazillion different possibilities, I'd look into this:

1) neck/middle: Duncan SSL-1 for a classic tone, SSL-3 for a tad more agressive tone.
2) Bucker: Duncan '59 or if you want to spend a tad more, Duncan Pearly Gates. The Duncan JB might be worth a look as well, I think it is horrendous in most guitars, but works relatively well in alder or ash guitars. I'd avoid the SH-5, it's not exactly a versatile pup and imo works best for heavy rock, but is kinda meh for lower gain stuff. I've also not heard it in a Strat before, only in LP style guitars. If you like it but want something more versatile, the Duncan Custom Custom (or maybe the Duncan Custom) are worth a look. Duncan's got some soundfiles on their site to give you a rough idea of the tones you can get.

Depending on where you live, hand wound custom pickups might also be available and be a better deal.

Thank you for the ideas.

I like the 59 alot, will checkout pearly gates.

For some reason I am thinking.
SSL-1
SSL-1
SH-4 JB

I will also give the Dimarzio's a listen.

I have a les paul too, if that helps.

Thanks again.

See if you can try out a Yamaha Pacifica 812 somewhere, they come with that configuration stock. I figure if it works well for you on the Yamaha, it should be fine on your Strat as well.

Thanks.

I do think this will work for me.
SSL-1 / SSL-1 / SH-4 JB

What would be better setup for?
Van Halen, Chili Peppers, Nirvana

The first SSL-1 is in and it is a big upgrade.

It is much closer to my american strat now.

Hopefully I will add the others soon.

Thanks.

I had a JB in my MIM strat originally and it was too bright. I now have a Custom Custom TB-11 and I like it. Make sure you get the TremBucker version of the SH buckers if you go Duncan. Also, I suggest calling the Duncan cust serv line, they are real good too about helping people make decisions.

Added the second SSL-1 in the middle, it sounds very nice.

Thinking of putting a '59 the bridge now.
