Hey can someone point me to some information about possible setups for using a Microphone in a band. Do you hook it directly to the amp? I want to do some singing, and I have never before tried to get a good sounding setup for a microphone, I don't know the first thing about it!

If you don't own a PA system, just plug it into an amp.

EDIT: mess around with the knobs a bit, to get the tone you want.

Any suggestions for microphones? I want something solid, between 100-150

I'm sure you can get a Shure 58 in that price range, it's the live standard.

With pedals you can throw your guitar down for an impromptu pedal drone solo, whereas if you did that on a rack it would just look like you were programming your washing machine.

Shure SM58, Audix OM3, Sennheiser E835, Electro Voice ND767, Samson Q7

But why are you willing to spend $150 on a vocal mic when you don't have a PA system to run it into?

Because I intend on getting a PA as soon as possible. I might try to compile one via craigslist instead of buying a package.
