I say Illusion of Safety is phc too, but in a different way.

Finch (second album) and Glassjaw are both awesome post hardcore bands. Alexisonfire's pretty good too.

I went as Darth Vadar to a school dance before.

Sure I got kicked out, but the DJ played the Imperial March and I just felt badass.

The word "post-harcore" gets thrown around and applied to far too many bands. When it comes to legit post-hardcore, Quicksand's Slip is, in my opinion, the best album ever made. Fugazi is generally recognized as one of the greats as well, but one should not overlook Embrace or Egghunt.
#12
OLD Poison The Well, New stuff is trash but during the Nerdy, Botchla days they were sick.
#13
Alexisonfire (their new material is kinda meh though)

Scary Kids Scaring Kids

EDIT: Also, Saosin if they count.

New stuff destroys the old stuff, you're retarded if you think it's trash.

yea i wouldnt call it trash either...but in his defense when i first heard versions i was like wtf is this. i think theyre much more of a challenging band now then they were when say, opposite of december came out, that is to say it took alot more listens for me to understand their newer stuff. its still good

R.I.P. Shaun Hand from Metal Sucks. He leaked this album and now Jake Bannon is going to crush his skull

I bought it listened to it a few times, and lost it.

Tropic Rot or Versions. Not that it matters, your opinion is meaningless.

Dude above me posted some wonderful bands. I need to get my hands on some Million Dead.

Could you count modern cave-in as Post hardcore? I know they're defining themselves as rock, but the music isn't without some PH elements.

In case they are, Planets of Old was a pretty sweet ep.

idk, they switch genres around on every song pretty much with that ep, i agree that it kicks serious ass though

i dont mean to toot my own horn.....

but i know post hardcore.

thrice-identity crisis, the artist in the ambulance, vheissu
circle takes the square- as the roots undo (greatest post hardcore album evar)
fear before-any and all
the sound of animals fighting-the ocean and the sun
at the drive in
bear vs shark- terrorhawk
thursday-waiting, full collapse, a city by the light divided
envy-abyssal, a dead sinking story
boys night out-broken bones bloody kisses
botch-we are the romans
poison the well-the tropic rot
mass movement of the moth-outerspace
fugazi
frodus

screamo often gets confused with post-hardcore, you should probably listen to post rock for a better idea. but honestly my favorites have always been thrice, circle takes the square, fear before and bear vs shark.

Chiodos

Coheed and Cambria (specifically their first album...they're prog but their first album has a lot of post-hardcore influence in it.)

Underoath (new stuff is more metalcore, They're Only Chasing Safety was their most PHC album)

blessthefall

there's already a post hardcore thread

and chiodos, coheed, underoath, and blessthefall are all not post hardcore.

just cause they sing and scream doesnt mean its post hardcore. god damnit.

Coheed is nothing like those bands...

anyway, listen to Second Stage Turbine Blade and tell me that isn't a post-hardcore album. (Listen to their earlier stuff as Shabuti while you're at it).

I didn't mean to lump in Coheed with the ****tyness of the other bands but I don't consider them post hardcore. When I look back at their older stuff, I can see it, but they are just real progressive and different. I guess you can throw them wherever.
#30
Yeah, that's why I focused on saying their earlier stuff. The later stuff... I don't know what I'd call that, but the earlier stuff can be in the same vein as like At The Drive In and whatever.

Half the people (give or take) in this thread need to stop posting on this forum. Anyways, would you lump Cap'n Jazz in this category? Also, everyone should listen to Nation of Ulysses and Circus Lupus for some excellent post-hardcore jams.
#39
Cap'n Jazz is usually considered emo, but emo and post-hardcore are like brothers in the genre family (with hardcore being the father)...that was a really weird analogy I know haha.

You guys might like older mewithoutYou. Also, kind of obscure but check out Self Destruct Sequence.
