I'm looking for an amp to play mostly rock/punk music. Maybe some metal.
Which amps are promising? I've been looking at Vox, Peavey, and Roland.

I've been playing my Ibanez RG2ex2 on a Line 6 Spider II 30 watt .

Don't even bother buying a new amp till you get at least 600USD (or 700CAD).

Then, once you get 600 or 700, sell the Spider for more funds to get an extra 100 and go on Ebay and start looking.

That'll take a while seeing as I have no income.
I get about 600 a year in cash from my parents.

It's not the greatest amp. We got it cause it was used and only $100.

I'm in a similar situation, and the amp that I am currently looking into is a Roland CUBE-30X Guitar Combo Amplifier. It costs around 250-300 dollars or so, and from what I've read on it, it has a lot of good features. A couple people who gave it reviews said that it doesn't even really need a foot pedal, because it has most of the effects built in. I probably won't be able to get it for another 2-3 weeks, but it definately looks like a good amp for someone in your price range (and mine :P).

Lol. I'm not sure if I want to spend too much on an amp.

This is a real question. How would I go about weighing the importance of a guitar or an amp?

Dude, get a part time job at Wendys, sell old crap around the house...whatever it takes. Save up $700 and get yourself something that you won't want to replace in a year.

Amp>Guitar

The amp makes up most of your sound, I'd say 70% of it.

yeah, moving from that spider to another cheap modelling amp really doesn't justify 250$. However going from a spider to a JCM 800, you'll be all liek, dayum dis is da shiz

sorry i just felt the need to ghetto type

Lmao. How about a $500 for an amp?
I'm not sure I want to blow another $700 yet. (I built a computer in February)
I think I could squeeze some money out of my parents during birthday, Christmas, and New Years.
