I know jazz chords are lots of #5b7 and others like that. But in general are there any chords I should look out for?

Any help appreciated.

Maj7s, Minor 7s, and Dom7 are the most important to learn.

Jetter Gain Stage Red OD

but, major 7th, minor 7th's and dominant 7ths are the most common.

and you should be aware of 9th's and 13th's

Edit: and chromatic alterations or "alt" chords.

but focus on the 7ths for now.

#5b7 chords are have a sharp 5, not a flat five. Everything else is right though.
