This is a song for all the people who's parents didn't go to college and had to struggle pay check to pay check growing up..... I had this type of life and now when I'm going off to college my parents finally get some money so we can do stuff.....
So tell me what you guys think, I think I did a real good job on it. Is it recordable?

They said son when you grow up

Don't be like us

Go to school and learn a skill

Don't forget to study real hard

We never really had money

We never had the fancy cars

We we're always struggling

Just to eat

From week to week

I'm sorry you never had the toys

All your friends talked about

We never could afford them for you

But you always found something else to do

We never really had money

We never had the fancy cars

We we're always struggling

Just to eat

From week to week

You never really had a chance

To get the nice things of life

But we finally landed on our feet

So you get a chance late in life

We never really had money

We never had the fancy cars

We we're always struggling

Just to eat

From week to week

So what do you say mom and dad

We celebrate our many successes

We can go out to eat

At the fanciest places

We never really had money

We never had the fancy cars

We we're always struggling

Just to eat

From week to week

Well I'm not a fan of literal meanings, I've always had the opinion that lyrics should have a bit of a figurative nature, otherwise only people with exactly those circumstances will appreciate it, and even then if they're anything like me they'll find the point-blank statement after statement style rather tedious.

Yea I'm not really big on metaphors because half the time I have to explain them to my friends for some reason....
