I wouldn't recommend EMGs but I know Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders are well-liked around here.

I've heard of dark star pickups before and heard they're good. Anyone care to expand on the dark stars?

what is wrong with your sound? what do you want to fix about it?

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

good, good, you want no noise,

now, what sound do you like to describe that dream tone in your head?

for example, mine is punchy, woody, clear, bellike, and modern.

Cliff Burton's dream tone is awful, terrible, garish, and farty.

/joke

but what do you want to sound like? and I'm assuming you have a budget?

hmm. single coils alone are gonna have that punch to them.

as long as you like deep undertones too, my money is on Bartolini single coils. otherwise the Fender noiseless should be ok.
