And what kind of Floyd Rose requires minimal time to maintain, tune, restring etc? I know all of them need a lot of patience and time to work with but which one is the most "user friendly?"
Breaking stereotypes by playing indie on a metal guitar.

Current Gear
- Epiphone Les Paul Standard (Plus Top)
- Crappy Strat Copy (Redecorated, looks snazzy)
- Ibanez Acoustic/Electric Guitar
- Ibanez RG1570 Mirage Blue
- Peavey Vypyr 30 Watt

its very easy. just takes awhile. i tuned and intonated it yesterday and it took about 10min
#4
original floyd
its really made out as wayyyy too much to do
when its not at all
itd take 30 mins at max on a regular floyd
promise
plus they stay in tune better than kahlers :P

Ok and about cutting the ball ends off my strings before putting them on my floyd or something. Which floyds have to do this?

I'm buying an Ibanez guitar most likely, so an Ibanez made floyd would be better since its stock. What's better ZR or the LO Pro or wh at

heheheh you said cutting the ball lol. Bad joke.

umm doesn't Yamaha do that easy floyd rose thing?

haha cutting the balls

Well Satriani uses the Lo pros i guess..
ZRs are a bit differentin the manner of working

haha hmm anyways id say not a floyd rose but a loating trem as Floyd Rose is a name of product and a firm.. i guess
it'sthe same as "which BMW is better?? Ip[ersonaly think of Mercedes Benz"
"well the Porsche BMW is better then the Audi BMW"
gah!!

this is absolutely, 100% correct.
For example, Dave Mustaine has a signature coffee mix.

Good Morning, Black Coffee?

Unlock nut
detune strings to tuning
lock nut
balance trem out (in this case, loosen the springs)
unlock nut
tune strings again
lock nut
tune strings with fine tuners
...

the zero edge trem is the best stock ibanez floating trem, by alll means.

just avoid the edge iii, it loses its razor edge fairly quick.

buuuut, vigen, im SURE the man meant "which floating trem is best", not "which floyd rose is best"

to someone who doesnt dillydally with floating trems, as he must not, its hard to differentiate.

hahaha, but seriously, my kahler has kept my washburn in drop d tuning perfectly for roughly 2 months now. i have to replace the strings before i have to retune the damn thing. but yea, they all really depend on how well you set it up.

Here's a pretty easy way

Block trem
Unlock Nut
Tune guitar down half step
Remove block - trem will slightly sink down.
Loosen Springs to re-balance trem.
Lock Nut

The guitar should be in proper tuning. Takes 5-10 minutes.

It won't be in the correct tuning at all, it'll be completely out - blocking it that way serves no purpose whatsoever.
Actually called Mark!

Not really. Almost all Ibanez users (who have used them for a long time) prefer the Original Edge or Lo-Pro. The Edge Zero just isnt as good as either. Not to say it isnt good, just the Edge/Lo-Pro is better.

It's easy but a pain in the ass and definitively takes some time.

You don't have to cut off the ball ends on any, you just turn the string around and insert the non-balled end into to saddles.
Plus it looks awesome with multicoloured ball ends at the tuners.

Original Edge Pwns all
LoPro ties with it
Edge Pro is a close match to both of them
and ive heard alot of complaints about the ZR losing sustain

I've got my first guitar with a floating tremolo and it's perfect. It's a Floyd Rose original, and I learned how to change strings and tune it easily with a few simple YouTube videos. I can do whatever wacky stuff I want to with this tremolo and the strings ALWAYS stay in perfect tuning. =)

I tuned down half a step on my Wolfgang and only really fooled around with the tension on the trem claws to help get the bridge flush with the guitar. Call me ignorant, but the intonation was fine and I didn't have to worry about it at all. When I tuned back up to standard I did the opposite of what I did to the trem claws before and everything was good.

Can't say I recommend this, though. There's a lot that can go wrong with being ignorant and thinking you can tune down on a Floyd without knowing too much about it in the first place.
