my dad is a high school tech teacher and one of his classes made two a few years ago with leafblowers. they worked, and were pretty cool when there is a light dusting of snow on the ground (it looks cool when the snow swirls and blows around). dont expect them to go that fast, hold more than one person, or actually hover off the ground more than a fraction of a inch. they really only work on flat, level ground.

ill use 5 leaf blowers hahaha see how much i get off the ground then LOL /joke

soo im guessing a leaf blower (get off the ground) and a big fan on a pivot(sp?) at the back for steering

I never made one, but when I was like 7 or 8 my science teacher had someone bring one to school. I rode around on it. It was pretty sweet.

they only used 2 leaf blowers so 5 would give some extra power. you might reach a point of maximum lift where adding extra blowers doesnt do too much though.

they mounted a barn fan on the back and powered the fan with a small gas-powered engine. they turned it with a series of vertical planks attached to the fan housing that would pivot to direct the air either to the right or the left. turning the whole fan would probably work, but it might be a bit harder to engineer/attach to the base and have the whole deal be nice and sturdy.

yeah, although it might have been a diesel or two-stroke engine now that i think about it. i dont think it much matters just as long as the engine is strong enough to turn the fan quickly enough to propel everything forward.
