it seems really rare to hear a bass guitar solo. do u kno of any band that does it? i like the way lemmy from motorhead plays he seems to play loud where as with other bands its like bass not heard much due to guitarists playing stuff.

Cliff Burton is an obvious answer! He was really awesome. And of course Lemmy also has a few bass solos, Stay Clean and "Lost in the ozone" (cant remember the exact name). Worth a listen

Cannibal Corpse's Hammer Smashed Face and Addicted to Vaginal Skin are the first that come to mind, along with the fill from the song Bloodlands. I think Slayer even has a bass fill in one of their new songs.

If you listen closely to a lot of songs he seems to be doing something a little different than the guitars, which sets him apart from the guys who get absorbed into the guitars and forgotten.

If Alex's technical ability could be bought, it would be worth more than a Gibson Citation

Rob Trujillo plays solos live, as did (surprise!) Cliff Burton. I do prefer Rob's over Jason's...

I hate when people play guitar solos on bass. That's just my personal dislike but it's not meant for the bass! 5, 6 string basses, that's just unnecessary. Guitar solos are for the guitar. Do you ever hear people slapping on a guitar? That sounds ridiculous just like guitar solos on a bass!

I've heard of people slapping power chords on a guitar.. There's no need to be playing (degrading, maybe?) the solo from Comfortably Numb on a bass

The point of underground bands is their not popular or famous most of the time. Thus there is a good chance they suck.
