Well today i got my new MIM Tele that I got for a steal from MF last week. Haven't gotten a chance to play it much yet, but it seems very nice. Although there is a weird rattle when you play an open low E. Not too concerned with it though as the guitar is getting a new bridge, tuners and nut right off the bat. That and a setup should surely solve the issue if there is one. One thing that surprised me about the guitar is the neck. It has awesome flame figuring on both the neck and fretboard. Bonus for sure. I was hoping to start modding today, but my tuners have not arrived as i hoped they would. Here are some pics. More will follow after the mods.

That's gorgeous. I love teles

Happy new tele day!

edit: which model is it exactly? I'm guessing it's not just a Standard due to the flame neck..
And which new bridge/tuners/nut are you putting on it exactly?

It is just an MIM standard. Hence my surprise at the awesome neck and board. I have already ordered a Wilkinson vintage style compensated bridge, Fender/Schaller locking tuners and a graphtech tusq nut. I have gotten all but the tuners which should be here tommorrow. If so I will install it all and set it up. Also in the very near future I will install a Bareknuckle pickups Piledriver set, Fender 4 way mod switch, CTS pots and a switchcraft jack. just wanted to ask another mim owner, do u have any trouble keeping your B string in tune, i figured out y mine is flat when ever i pick it up...its the little M shaped string holder on the headstock doing something, so i mite take it off. does anybody know if this will completely screw my strings up?

If you think it's catching there you can buy a replacement of a different design, though it could be the tuners, the nut, or anything. If you're sure it's that, i'd personally rather change it instead of removing it. It's there to increase the break angle over the nut, if you remove it you'll lose a bit of sustain and maybe get some buzz from the nut.

Hehe, yeah same. I like modding guitars almost as much as playing them. You getting the 3-saddle bridge instead of the 6 saddle one then? Even though you can't intonate them as prescisely I still prefer it like that on mine for looks, just something about the classic tele look I really like. I've got a picture of mine on my profile if you wanna see, it's a MIM too.

Anyway before I steal your topic, grats again on the rather fine axe :]

Yeah I went with a 3 saddle, but it is compensated so it will intonate almost as good as the 6. It's a must for the Tele tone. I just got it so I don't really know how it stays in tune. I really don't care honestly as I am swapping tuners, nut and bridge. I'm sure it will stay in tune after that If it helps at all my MIM strat was crap for tuning stability, but I replaced the nut and tuners on it as well now it is rock solid. No you can't just get rid of the string tree unless you get staggered tuners.

Yes it was, but I bought an Arctic White Strat a month ago at full price so MF refunded me $200 for the difference. So for me it was $99 Arctic White Tele day

Started modding already.

That's a sweet looking maple neck. I'm curious, though, why you would put on the old style bridge with the brass barrels...aren't they harder to properly intonate?

I suppose, however, that if you already have several high-tech guitars, why not have one equipped with vintage style hardware, eh?

Thanks guys. As for the bridge a Tele really isn't a Tele without a vintage style bridge. This one is compensated so it will intonate properly. Yes it will get BKP's. I will hopefully get a Piledriver set for it soon.

Well the tuners came in today. Got them installed and strung it up with .10's. Set it up and it plays and sounds GREAT!!! This bridge made a HUGE difference. The guitar sounds much more lively and the annoying rattle it had is totally gone. Now it just needs BKP's.
