Because before you go buying an extremely expensive guitar you should have an amp that doesn't make people's ears bleed.

look i have the 120 watt spider sadly and even compared to my less than amazing b-52 it sounds like **** i only use it for the tuner and for practicing late at night with headphones, and even then it doesn't vary sound good IMO they are just vary compressed sounding if that makes sense, maybe you dont hear it but play some high end modeling amps or even some average tube amps and you will hear it

because the Line 6 Spider IV is out!
lol jk, but most people don't like modeling amps.
personally, I love my Peavey Vyper. it may not sound exactly like a real recto, but I can still get a great sound out of it

Not at all. Most of the best amps at lower prices are modelling amps. However, the spider III is just about the crappiest amp out there.

But your amp is sh*t so neither of those guitars is going to sound any where near good through it, dumbass.

If you're going to have €1500 saved up then you can do the following.

Buy a Mexican Standard Tele, and an Epiphone Explorer, and an amp that will cover all your needs, like a Bugera 6262, a Line 6 Flextone/Vetta. (The Vetta would have to be a used model)

I get a funny feeling that this advice will fall on deaf ears though...

First, calm down, it's the internet.

Second, fine, tele, but frankly you won't hear a sliver of difference in sound with that amp.

I would say if you have €1500 to shell out, spend €500 on a new guitar and €1000 on a new amp. Also, we can't tell you whether to get an explorer or tele. They're completely different guitars.
#24
You still haven't answered my question about your favorite bands in the first reply to this thread.

Get a new amp.

If this statement is true, you should stick to the Spider for a few months and let your ears develop.

Jesus ****ing christ.

Welcome to Ultimate-Guitar...

Get the Telecaster imo especially for Indie.

Also dont give a **** about people saying you need a new amp, people with those 100W heads still get a ****ty ass sound as they cant even get it abowe 2.

The thing is, in a band like chickenfoot, think of the JSX as a submarine and the Marshall as a plane. No matter how good the submarine is, it might be the perfect submarine, if you need a plane, a submarine ain't gonna do it for you.

Uh, did you neglect the fact that OP has a Stratocaster and an SG? A new amp would do more for him right now than a new guitar.
#29
an new amp maybe, but he is happy with the amp he has so leave it at that, also, a new guitar will be more fun to play
#33
You got a Stratocaster(MiA?) and an SG,what exactly are you looking for in terms of pickup configuration?

I'm not going to tell you anything about the Line6 simply because I haven't tried it and personally,I still enjoy my Korg toneworks so call me a fool if you want,I can appreciate both that and my Peavey C30.

My suggestion:A pickup upgrade(once you know what you're looking for) + a good tube amp
#34
If you like your amp it is all that matters. Most of the people here don't have gear worth writing home about.

I would have a hard time between an Explorer and a Tele but I think the Tele would win out just because they're a little easier to play sitting down.

No bad choice between the two though!
#35
You wont hear a huge difference...at all with that amp.
Great amp+good guitar= good tone
Great guitar+OK amp= pretty crappy tone.

I would say get an EPI korena Explorer.
Also for a new amp, Roland cube, peavy vyper.

You do need to get a decent amp first, there is no point if you get a decent Fender and stick it through a Spider III.

Before I bought my Fender Tele I bought an Ashton valve amp first so I could get the best sound out of it.

From my experience literally every guitar sounds essentially the same running through a Spider III.

What do you like more? Indie and blues = Tele caster, Rock/Metal = Explorer
Breaking stereotypes by playing indie on a metal guitar.

Current Gear
- Epiphone Les Paul Standard (Plus Top)
- Crappy Strat Copy (Redecorated, looks snazzy)
- Ibanez Acoustic/Electric Guitar
- Ibanez RG1570 Mirage Blue
- Peavey Vypyr 30 Watt

Well my vote is for Telecaster, but seriously dude consider upgrading your amp it'll make the most difference in your tone. Anyway the Telecaster will cover your indie, and punk needs, you already have an SG so you got the metal side covered IMO
MIM Fender Telecaster
SX GG1 Junior (Les Paul Special clone)
Dillion Canada DXC 58 (DC Les Paul Junior)

says the guy with a blues junior.

The kid is looking for advice on a guitar. Maybe he likes the sound of his amp.
#40
Hey, Just to throw it out there you might want to try a Telecaster Thinline as well. They sound a lot different from solid bodied Teles.

Oh and I'm not going to tell you to get a new amp but you really should take one of your guitars to a guitar store and try out different amps with it to get a general idea of what people have been talking about. Try Fender tube amps and Orange amps to start out and spend some time playing through them. Try them again on other days, too. The sound may have to grow on you.
Always tin your strings.
