That February night when I fell asleep
I was not prepared for what I was to see
And that following morning when I woke
I was filled with sorrow and devoid of hope

She comes while I sleep, to my dismay
So I am with her for nights but alone for days
And now my waking hours are spent grieving
I simply wish that I had just kept dreaming.

And as I weep with the sky
The wind whispers your name
I waited here forever
But you never came

I'd give it all to have you back
I'd give it all for one last chance
I'd love to hear you call out my name
Instead of uttering my dying chant

I know that this is all the past
I know I should let go
But I've realized the mistakes I've made
Seen now what I hadn't known

At night I see
At night I see your beautiful face

With my eyes closed
... I hear your voice

It was too late
It was too late when I realized

That I had made
... the wrong choice

There was no way that I could have known
What this was about
When I was on the inside
Struggling to look out

I'd love for another chance
Whatever the cost
But I can't help but feel
That all hope is lost

That February night when I fell asleep
I was not prepared for what I was to see
And that following morning when I woke
I was filled with sorrow and devoid of hope

She comes while I sleep, to my dismay
So I am with her for nights but alone for days
I'd love for another chance whatever the cost
But I can't help but feel that all hope is lost

What does the 21st of February represent to you because it's not clear in the poem(not that it matters much)

At night I see
At night I see your beautiful face
This would sound good in a song but you could have used something other than beautiful in my opinion like "mesmerizing" (like the starry sky if you are comparing her to the night sky) or something like "nice" ....Beautiful is a bit of a common word

She comes while I sleep, to my dismay
So I am with her for nights but alone for days
And now my waking hours are spent grieving
I simply wish that I had just kept dreaming.
I enjoyed this stanza and I like how it's repeated at the end

I really like the way this part sounds.

Odd, I never saw that question.

February 21st was the night when I fell asleep and dreamed of a love long lost. I woke up in a state of despair, and immediately started working on this song.

And I'll take your advice into consideration (didn't see that before either )
