I figured this guy should be shared with the ug community.
For those of you who don't know, The Streets, a.k.a. Mike Skinner, is a dude from England who did a very unique blend of british garage music with spoken poetry simply about the shit that goes on in his life. His first release, Original Pirate Material, was amazing and is personally one of my favorite albums in all music. His other releases have do not have quite the same feeling as the first one, although each one has a few songs that really stand out. He is very unique, and I personally feel his lyrics are very good. Here are some songs that I recommend checking out if you are interested in this.
The first song, "Let's Push Things Forward" really captures the whole idea behind The Streets, as his music is really unlike anything else I've ever heard.

I think The Streets is just one of those artists that could never really be imitated well, and hopefully one day more people will know about this amazing music.

I actually find him really annoying. My opinion.

The things he say are so cliche. (only listened to 2 songs)
But sounds like he is rhythmically challenged, some people like to rap out of rhythm and it sounds cool but him it just sounds like his beats are to fast for him to rap to.

i think he's pretty cool. at one point i used to think that Audiobullys was better because the music was better, but i realized that the difference was marginal. but this guy comes up with wayy better lyrics.

hmm well to each his own, but i actually like that about him. I wouldn't even call this rapping, since he does it in such an abstract way.

I guess he's words just touched me on a personal level, since his life is so average.

In years to come, Mike Skinner will be looked at as one of the most talented and gifted songwriters Britain has ever had. Original Pirate Material being still my favourite record and 'Weak Become Heroes' still gives me chills. He's so well respected in a lot of circles, from the kids who listen to alternative right down to straight up garage and grime. Check out the Pranging Out remix.
