What exactly is the actives passive rule? I've got an EMG 81 in the bridge position and a stock Epi neck pickup in my Epiphone Korina Explorer. It is possible to mix them. I wouldn't put actives in an Epiphone Dot or any other hollow body though. I just don't think they would sound good in it.

supposedly your not supposed to mix actives and passives dont know why but thats what most people on UG seem to say that

It makes the wiring a little more complicated but it can be done.

And like Mikey said "most people" would be wrong.

ok wellz i guess that true, but to help TS id your willing to blow 200 dollars for a neck pickup u should go with those sustanics. they get good cleans, and have an extra little thing to fiddle with too. otherwise, u should check out GFS. heard their pickups are really a bang for your buck

I've got a Duncan '59 in the neck of my Flying V. Great clean pickup although it's a little bassy.

ZakkWyldefan79: I saw a band at Music as a Weapon this year and their guitarist was playing a white hollowbody with a pair of EMG's in it. I'll see if I can't find the picture, it's an interesting guitar...
