At the moment my amp is being repaired and I really wanted to play loudly, so I plugged my guitar into my brothers bass amp.

Tonight my brothers amp has started to sound what he describes as 'tinny and quiet'.

Could this problem be my fault from plugging my guitar in to a bass amp?

EDIT: He has checked all the settings and things like that.

EDIT2: He hasn't used his bass amp in couple of months and I am the last person to play it, but I still don't see how my guitar could've broken it. I think he may have damaged it transporting it.

there is nothing wrong with playing a guitar through a bass amp. just the other way around is bad

If you played very high very loudly, you might've.

I don't think so, its usually only the reverse that I've heard causes problems.

The fender bassman was a bass amp, but it is widely used as guitar amp now

Could be, but the most important thing to remember is that it wasn't your fault, even if it was.

yeah as said above, the damage would have been done if you wouldve plugged your bass into your bro's guitar amp.

This might have something to do with why my amp has been acting up lately...

Didn't Josh Homme play his guitar through a bass amp back in Kyuss? It shouldn't really cause any damage. From what I know bass pickups have a higher output than an electric guitar, so I can't see how it'd blow his amp.

Are you sure it didn't go down like this...

After many failed pickups at the bar you come home, drunk and desperate, ready to stick your dick in any hole it will fit.

Bass Amp (in a deep manly monotone) : Hey Big-Boy, I know this is basically your first act so just take your 1/4 inch monster and ram it in me.
You : IDK about that, you are my brothers amp
Bass Amp : Its fine, I wont tell
You : Alright I guess its fine if he'll never know
*You plug your 3 inch cable in*
You : God i can't believe this is actually happening. Talk dirty to me!
Bass Amp : DOOOOOOOOOO!!!! DOOOOOO DUN DUN DUN!! DUN DOOOO!!
You : Oh ya thats it. God damn. I'm about to blow!!
Bass Amp : NO! NO! PULL OUT GOD DAMN IT

In a fiery hot passionate explosion the speaker blows, you whisper "If you tell anyone about this, I'll kill you" and you smack the amp in a drunken rage, seconds later she is completely unconscious. And now you must live with yourself and horror of what you've done to her.
Goodness gracious me!

Lol

I did the voice for each character.

Did the bass amp have the voice of the Quizno's toasting machine? It did for me.

I'm sure that Funeral For A Friend's Bass player used an Orange guitar amp.

But didn't they make an amp that's compatible with both Guitar and Bass?

Thanks people, I now KNOW that it isn't my fault and I have read the Pete Townshend would play through a bass amp sometimes, unfotunately my brother won't see it that way and will continue to blame me as he doesn't have anyother reason that his amp is ****ed up.

Funny story Bizarro, I liked!

Guitar amps are for guitar

Bass amps are for bass, however bass amps = heavy duty guitar amps, so bass amps are for guitars.
