You were not a guitar player if you did not own an ADA MP-1 back in the day.
I was never happy with the sound I got from mine to be honest. My Roland GP-16 sounded much better.

Cool story bro.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Yeah cool story, send it to me if you don't like it and I'll send you my Spider III for trade.

It's a classic preamp, from the 80s, high gain. Used by Maiden, Metallica, Gilbert and others.
#6
ADA made some ok delay effects, but the preamp was not desirable.
#7
It's desired by me. And by the dozen of people who bid on one each week on he-bay

Never heard of it, but then again, I only got into guitar about four years ago.

Searches indicate that it's a pre-amp?

Tons of bands in the 80s/early 90s used em. Dimebag, Paul Gilbert, Warren DeMartini, etc. I personally don't see what's so great about em but alot of hair metal guys swear by them. I usually remember A/DA for their Flanger (reissue coming soon!!!) and their delays.

I had one, I liked it better than my Randall RM4 that cost 4 times as much

Proof that tone is subjective. I love the RM4 and the Egnater it's based on even more. The MP-1 is an ok preamp, it's just people are driving the cost up far too much. I've seen them go for $500.

Don't get me wrong, the RM4 sounded great, but just left something to be desired. The MP-1 sounded great for the $190 I paid for it. I'm sure the RM4 would sound better if I had some Salvation mods in it or something, but then I'd rather just buy a different amp for the price they cost

I see your point. You could get a damn nice head for what the RM4 plus modules, mods and poweramp cost.

Exactly, so I ended up trading the RM4 for a Marshall 2203 head and sold the Mesa power amp and bought a Tama Starclassic drumset

So I take it you didn't get that MK III you made a thread about a little over a month ago?

Nah, the amp sounded cool, but what I was going to trade for it was worth more, I would've traded if it had the GEQ

That's right, I forgot it didn't have the GEQ. IMO that's almost necessary on those amps. Did you get an old 2203 or the reissue?
