I am just wondering what people here on the forum think about this guitar as i know not everyone does a official review of their gear. I am going to be getting this guitar in Ice Blue for anyone that wonders.

Short version: What is your verdict on the Ibanez s470?

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.

I love mine with a passion, it's almost my favourite guitar that I own and was such good value for the money. The only gripe I have with it is the pickups but they're not that bad at all, they could just stand to be a little better.

Why is that?
#5
I dunno. Because I can? Its one of those things in my head where I feel that anything over a grand is good quality. So I'm guaranteed to get decent quality. Not always true though I know..

Edit: I do have limits though. I won't spend 3 grand and upwards on a guitar. That's ludicrous when a guitar worth a grand is just as good as most 3 grand guitars.

I had a Mesa Boogie F-50 and got rid of it cause tube amps are too loud for this house. That's why I don't have such a great amp.

I'd love to get a tube amp again though. I really would. Kills me that I can't. Got tons of complaints because of the boogie.

Depends on the year of the S470. I believe when the ZR trems came out, that's when the S series were known again.

Ahah you think an f-30 would be overkill for you?

Get a used S540; MUCH better than any S made these days.

ZR is bad news for your sustain.

I don't have any problems with sustain on my S470 and anyway, any guitarist worth their salt will be able to tell you that more than half of good sustain is good vibrato.

I love mine, the only problem is sustain. It still has a nice amount of sustain, but nothing along the lines of a regular thickness guitar made of mahogany.
If you can find a used S540 that's definately a step up, but don't be deterred from buying a 470 cos they are great.

I wouldn't buy one unless it was used. They sell new for about $600.00 and used they sell for about $200.00.

For $600.00 there are a lot better guitars out there. For $200.00 it is a good deal.

That's a great price for a S470, especially since it looks like it may have an EMG in the bridge!

S470's seem to usually go for around $400 though. Add another $100 and you have yourself a much higher quality S540

Does it matter if it's new or used?

Why not the S540? All personal opinions aside, it's a much better guitar.

I really dont understand why you need the opinions from others on what they think about this guitar, what do you think about it since you are buying it ?
#32
You obviously don't understand a community forum as everyone's opinion is valued and I do not want to purchase a guitar that is known for being bad and unreliable.

Thanks for another pointless post.

Towards no.mop thanks for the recommendation
