What would be a good microphone choice for home recording electric guitar on a Line 6 Spider 3 amp? I was hoping for an inexpensive dynamic choice, and feel free to ask any follow up questions that would help me get a more specific choice.

Thanks.

on a more serious note, condenser mics are pretty cheap, but reliable

Yeah, I don't have alot of money, which explains the amp. But I'm willing to spend money on a dynamic mic, I already have a condenser.

So you're willing to spend money making the most accurate recording possible of what you agree isn't a great amp.

Right. Ever heard of polishing a turd?

Anyway, if you're sure you don't want to go the amp sim route, the SM57 seems a good choice.

With pedals you can throw your guitar down for an impromptu pedal drone solo, whereas if you did that on a rack it would just look like you were programming your washing machine.
