what does it mean when a scale is in second position? is there a 3rd anf 4 th and so on?
how do you know what key a scale is in? or a chord?

The same for scales... You have to care about the 'tonica'... Do in this case.

It basically means just another place on the fretboard to play the scale, starting from differnet strings and frets. There can also be 3rd 4th and 5th positions.
