9400M is a bit poor if you want to game, but other than that it looks good. no sound card? or can you not get laptop sound cards

a) Wrong thread. Should be in the Computer Thread in the Pit
b) Depends on what you are going to do. If its listening to music/net/office work, then its total overkill. You really dont need 4GB and a 9400 on a 15" screen for this sorta stuff. 2GB/3GN + Intel X4500 is enough.
If you're gonna be going to play games, its nowhere near enough. Gaming-at least a 2.4 quad core, and a GeForce 9800/Radeon 4850. For graphics (CAD etc), again, quad core, 8 GB (more preferably), and a GeForce Quadro card or an ATI FireGL.

EDIT: I noticed its an LED screen. What's the res on it?

Shouldn't you be thinking about an after market external sound card? as far as i know stock sound cards are not usually upto recording well...

+1. You NEED an inbuilt/external soundcard if you want to record, you'll get shocking quality otherwise
